Greg Crick has been forced to withdraw from Adelaide’s opening round of the ENZED Touring Car Masters Series due to poor health.
Crick was admitted to hospital last Tuesday with symptoms relating to potential carbon monoxide poisoning just days after helping guide Erebus Motorsport to third place in the Bathurst 12 Hour.
The experienced racer, who drove alongside Will Davison and Jack Le Brocq in the Erebus Mercedes SLS at Mount Panorama, was due to pilot his regular mount, a TCM Chrysler Charger, at the Clipsal 500 next week.
The Tasmanian remains in hospital while he recovers and is expected to return to the race track when the TCM heads to Winton in April.
“I went into hospital, very sick, on Tuesday and have been here ever since,” Crick explained.
“From what I am told it is a combination of the carbon monoxide fumes and the fact that I wasn’t running any helmet fan or driver cooling during the race last week. I’ve had previous issues with that kind of thing and it looks like it has come back.
“I’ve just always been a bit sensitive to the latest lot of fuels and all of the gasses that go with it.
“I have absolutely no problems with Erebus, the car or any of the team at Bathurst. I had a brilliant time and it was one of the most enjoyable races of my career, I can’t thank them enough. It’s just one of those things.”
“I am devastated to not be at Clipsal because it is such a great event, and we wanted to be there for Chrysler, Mopar, and all the fans who support us,” he added.
“I am resting up and working on being better in time for Winton.”
