The Holden Racing Team has been handed a two-part penalty for a pit infringement during Race 15 in Townsville.
Stewards have levied a deduction of 30 Teams’ Championship points and a fine of $3,000 for a wheel nut rolling into the fastlane.
The incident occurred on the left-front corner of Garth Tander’s Commodore during his first pitstop.
Tander ran in the top 10 throughout the first half of the 200km contest but fell to 21st after double-stacking behind team-mate James Courtney in the mid-race stops.
Tander was 11th by the time the Safety Car re-appeared 11 laps from home, where he did not follow Courtney to the lane for fresh tyres.
Restarting eighth, Tander dropped to an eventual 20th as those with new rubber behind proved unstoppable.
Courtney was among those to charge through, claiming the team’s first podium finish since the Clipsal 500 in March with second.
The HRT remains third in the teams’ championship following its penalty, 865 adrift of leaders Red Bull Racing Australia.
