Rubens Barrichello looks set to return to the Izod IndyCar Series for a second season in 2013, but will likely do so with a different team.
The 40-year-old Brazilian moved to the American open-wheel class this year, joining long-time friend and countryman Tony Kanaan at KV Racing.
Barrichello has endured largely lean results in the 12 races run to date however, failing to score a single top six finish.
The veteran of 322 Formula 1 starts has told English publication Autosport that he will not hesitate to leave KV in search of better results.
“Friends apart, business is business,” he said.
“I’m fairly open to (KV co-owners) Jimmy (Vasser) and Kevin (Kalkhoven); they gave me a car, and we had a situation where the deal was done in the last 20 minutes.
“I’m having fun, I’m having my brother running with me – he’s a real brother, I’ve known Tony since I was 12. But that doesn’t mean we have to stick together.
“I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to win.”
Meanwhile, Graham Rahal is also expected to be on the move next season after his Chip Ganassi Racing squad missed a funding deadline for his #38 ride.
Rahal’s current team-mates Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon and Charlie Kimball are all understood to be on the verge of new deals with the powerhouse squad.
