Kawasaki’s Jay Marmont will miss this weekend’s round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals due to complications from surgery on the knee injury he sustained at the previous round at Murray Bridge.
Marmont has been unable to get a doctor’s clearance for the event. Since going under the knife, the four times and reigning Australian Champion has had some post-surgery complications.
“I’m obviously disappointed. It’s no secret that I’ve been riding injured and fighting through pain all year so I guess this is nature’s way of telling me to let it go for this year’s MX Nationals,” said Marmont – who is gunning for his fifth straight MX Nationals crown. “We’ve reassessed our goals though and we’re now very eager to get out there and win as many motos as possible in this championship.”
Dylan Peterson will take Marmont’s mount for the Hervey Bay weekend, whilst Kade Mosig will continue as the Castrol-supported Kawasaki team’s MX2 rider. Scotsman, Billy Mackenzie is still out of action for the injury-struck Kawasaki squad and isn’t expected to return until round eight.
