Matt Kingsley has secured continued backing from the famous Sunshine State landmark, the Big Pineapple, for Round 5 of the Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia round in Townsville next month.
Kingsley was recently confirmed as Porsche’s ‘Guest’ driver after two impressive performances at Adelaide and Phillip Island in Ray Angus’s car.
His strong results have not only given him the tick of approval from Porsche, but have tempted the Big Pineapple owners to again support the Gold Coast-based racer.
“Townsville will be a special round for me – I’m a Queenslander racing with an iconic Queensland sponsor competing in my home state,” said Kingsley.
“Racing the Big Pineapple Porsche at Phillip Island certainly turned heads and sparked a lot of interest. I expect the same reaction when racing in Townsville.
“It will be a big week for Queensland for the Townsville event. We’re expecting the Maroons to cap off another successful State of Origin earlier that week, so hopefully we can make it a perfect week for Queensland.”
Kingsley is a former Porsche Staff Solutions International GT3 Cup Challenge Australia competitor, winning the 2009 Porsche title and continuing in the one-make category until the end of the 2011 season.
He currently sits 12th in the standings, despite missing two rounds.
Kingsley’s Porsche will sport branding of the Big Pineapple Music Festival and the Big Pineapple Markets at Townsville.
The Townsville event will be held on July 6-8.
