LCR Honda will retain the services of Cal Crutchlow until the end of 2017 while Jack Miller’s future at the team remains unclear.
The Italian outfit announced plans to extend its relationship with the British rider ahead of his home grand prix at Silverstone this weekend.
Lying ninth in the championship standings, Crutchlow joined LCR Honda this year after a disappointing 2014 season with Ducati.
“I am happy to announce the extension of our cooperation with Cal, who is one of the most talented riders in the whole MotoGP field,” said team boss Lucio Cecchinello.
“He has got the skills and the potential to battle with the top riders and fight for the podium spots, as he demonstrated in Argentina earlier this season.
“Cal is extremely professional and during the season we have built up a great rapport.
“It’s a pleasure to be working with Cal again in 2016 and I look forward to the years to come.”
While the team has confirmed plans for its lead bike, it is understood LCR Honda is considering the possibility of downsizing to a one bike operation next year, leaving Australian talent Miller without a ride.
The Townsville rider was placed on an Open class bike at LCR Honda this season by Honda after signing a three-year contract with the Japanese firm.
