Le Brocq fastest in Townsville Super2 Practice 2

Jack Le Brocq

Jack Le Brocq has set the fastest time in practice for Round 4 of the Dunlop Super2 Series in Townsville.

Le Brocq looked set to bump his MW Motorsport team-mate Shae Davies off the top in the final five minutes of Practice 2 but made a slow run off the final corner.

However, he managed to complete the lap next time around, with the #28 GoGetta Altima driver’s 1:14.73s effort proving to be the fastest of the day.

Todd Hazelwood then split the Altimas thanks to a final-minute lap in the #35 Bigmate Matt Stone Racing Commodore which saw him go only 0.06s slower than Le Brocq.

Macauley Jones jumped from deep in the order after the chequered flag to finish third-fastest in his #14 DrillPro Brad Jones Racing Commodore.

Davies (#26 Loco Altima) ended up fourth, within 0.1s of his team-mate in an ultra-competitive session.

Richard Muscat (#44 Wilson Security GRM Commodore) was fifth-fastest, ahead of Anton de Pasquale (#67 ToolPro Paul Morris Motorsport Falcon).

Practice 1 fast man Garry Jacobson (#1 Mega Prodrive Racing Australian Falcon) finished the session in seventh, having been parked for the first five minutes due to a breach of end of practice procedures in the earlier session.

The top 10 was rounded out by Bryce Fullwood (#16 Middy’s MW Motorsport Altima), Will Brown (#38 Wilson MedicOne Eggleston Motorsport Commodore), and Paul Dumbrell (#88 Burson Auto Parts Eggleston Motorsport Commodore).

Debutant Gerard McLeod found the tyre wall at Turn 3 when he lost the rear of his #50 ABC Towing Falcon over the ripple strip.

Brodie Kostecki (#57 Sprint Cutting Matt Stone Racing Falcon) spun at Turn 2 after contact early in the session with Mason Barbera (#99 Wilson Security GRM Commodore).

The field will qualify for their first race of the weekend at the Watpac Townsville 400 tomorrow from 1200 local time/AEST.
