Newly-crowned Australian Formula Ford Champion Jack Le Brocq will make his FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Series debut at the Armor All Gold Coast 600.
The Victorian will drive for Erebus Motorsport in the team’s two-car FW1 Aussie Racing Car squad, pairing up with Josh Hunt next weekend.
Having clean-swept the Bathurst 1000 Formula Ford races last weekend, the 20-year-old’s Aussie Car debut comes on a circuit that he knows well, having raced Formula Ford there for the last two years, winning the 2011 event.
The announcement caps off a big week, having won the Formula Ford title, and confirming that he is close to securing his V8 Supercars debut in the Dunlop Series at Homebush later this year.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Erebus Motorsport team, they have shown they are on the move in Australian motorsport so to represent them is a huge honour,” said Le Brocq.
“Racing in the same team as Josh will be a good benchmark, we’ll push each other all the way I’m sure. Being at the Gold Coast for this race and not having to think about a Championship will mean I’ll really be able to enjoy the experience.”
Hunt debuted the Erebus Motorsport Aussie Racer at Townsville and is no stranger to the category in Surfers Paradise. Back in 2006, he set the pole time in his Aussie Racing Car debut. This will be his first time back racing on the Gold Coast since that weekend.
He is relishing the challenge of having one of Australian motorsport’s hottest young prospects racing in the same team.
“Having someone with Jack’s talent and enthusiasm in the same team will a real test, definitely,” Hunt said.
“He’s full of confidence at the moment and it will ensure I’m on my game. I’m sure everyone else in the category will be in the same boat.”
The FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Series will have three races over the Armor All Gold Coast 600 weekend and is the only category that will be racing on Friday afternoon.
