CAMS Rising Stars Racing’s Jack LeBrocq broke through for his maiden Australian Formula Ford Championship round win a wet Sandown Raceway today.
Although LeBrocq didn’t take a race win from any of the three heats, his consistency proved vital, edging out series leader Cameron Waters by a single point.
After qualifying a lowly 15th in a wet session, LeBrocq scored two third places and a second in the finale to earn the top trophy.
“It’s a really good feeling to take the win after all the hard work we’ve put in over the last couple of years,” LeBrocq said.
“After qualifying I certainly didn’t think that this would be the outcome.
“It’s great for our championship, we’ve got three more rounds to go, and anything can happen.”

Title leader Cameron Waters had to work hard after an incident in Race 1 saw him finish fourth, the same position he was awarded after being first across the line in Race 2 following a Safety Car infraction.
“It was good to win the last race, I was very happy with my pace out in front of the field,” he said.
“I was a bit frustrated with the first two races, but that’s motorsport.
“I’m really looking forward to Phillip Island next weekend.”
Nick Foster won the first two races but had to settle for third on the weekend results sheet, following an off track excursion in Race 3.
A sudden rain squall hit the circuit as the leaders commenced the second lap, with Foster faring the worst from the enduing melee, coming home a lap down.
“It was a great weekend until the last race, it’s a shame because our results were really going to help us in the points chase.
“The track suddenly became wet, and I was given a helping hand off the track. ”Zero points in that race hurts.”
Garry Jacobson was classified fourth for the round from Jesse Fenech, Tom Williamson, Trent Harrison, Daniel Erickson and Simon Hodge, with Liam Sager rounding out the top 10.
The championship returns next weekend at Phillip Island (September 16-18).
