The Lotus Formula 1 team has been granted a final adjournment in its High Court battle over an unpaid tax bill.
Insolvency proceedings were lodged against the Enstone team by HM Revenue and Customs earlier this month regarding an outstanding £900,000 (1.9 Million AUD) income tax and national insurance payment for June.
The London High Court ruled on Friday that the team has 10 days to resolve the matter ahead of a final hearing on September 28.
Lotus is currently in discussions with Renault over a potential take over by the French manufacturer which has further complicated the issue.
While Justice Birrs stated he would not grant another adjournment, Lotus representatives have convinced the judge a deal with Renault is close, which would assist the team’s financial situation.
“The parties have satisfied me there is genuinely a real prospect the first stage of the deal being described will be signed in the next seven days, which will allow significant funding to go into the company,” said Birrs.
