Craig Lowndes says that he wants to stay with Triple Eight Race Engineering for the rest of his V8 Supercars career.
The five-time Bathurst 1000 winner, recently announced as the sixth-best Australian Touring Car driver of all time, says that he can see himself remaining with the champion team until he hangs up his helmet.
The TeamVodafone star also says that of all the V8 team bosses that he has dealt with in his 15 year V8 career, he gets along with Triple Eight leader Roland Dane the best.
Lowndes details these thoughts, and much more, in his recently published book ‘Craig Lowndes – The Inside Line.’
“Triple Eight is the best in the V8 pit lane,” he says in his book.
“I can imagine myself happily seeing out my career there. Assuming, of course, that the team’ll have me that long …”
Lowndes says that Dane is “hard but fair.”
“He sets goals for everyone and if you achieve your goals, he rewards you and moves on and sets new goals,” he says.
“As an owner of a race team and as a boss, I get on with him better than I’ve ever got on with any other owner or team boss.”
Lowndes details many facets of his life – some stories that have never surfaced before. He explains his relationship with his team Triple Eight, his boss Dane, his passion for the farm, a love of motorcycles and the best and worst moments of his career.
