Craig Lowndes will pay a special tribute to his late mentor Peter Brock with a unique, one-off livery on his #888 TeamVodafone Commodore at next weekend's Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Lowndes, the winner of four of the last five V8 Supercars races, will compete with a replica retrospective colour scheme, and according to the team's media alert this morning, the look of the car will depict “one of Peter Brock's most recognised and successful race cars.”
The #888 entry will be driven by Lowndes and his Dick Smith Sandown 500 winning co-driver Warren Luff.
The #1 TeamVodafone Holden of championship leader Jamie Whincup and Paul Dumbrell will remain in its regular red and black look.
The look of Lowndes' car will be unveiled on Wednesday (October 3) in TeamVodafone's garage at Mount Panorama.
Lowndes and Brock's long-time partner Bev Brock will unveil the car.
Since Brock's passing in September 2006 and the introduction of the ‘Peter Brock Trophy' (awarded to the winner of the Bathurst 1000), Lowndes has won the race four times.
The one-off livery is one of a number of special colour schemes that will be seen at Mount Panorama next weekend, celebrating 50 years of ‘The Great Race.'
Dick Johnson Racing unveiled a #17 Tru-Blu Falcon, depicting Johnson's 1980 ‘rock' and 1981 Bathurst-winning Falcon XDs. The car will be seen in Norton colours, driven by James Moffat and Alex Davison.
