Warren Luff has set the pace in Carrera Cup practice as he clocked the benchmark time in both of today’s practice sessions at Sandown.
In what was the first appearance of the Porsche Series at the Melbourne circuit since 2008, Luff was 0.3582-sec quicker than Craig Baird with Elite driver Roger Lago showing outstanding form to be third fastest in the opening session.
Luff, Baird and Steven Richards then had two sessions at the wheels of their respective V8 Supercar rides in the dedicated co-driver sessions, before having the very next on-track practice in the late afternoon.
Throughout the opening 15 minutes it appeared as though those drivers were still in V8 mode, before settling into a rhythm with Luff setting the fastest time of the day after the chequered flag was waved. Second fastest was Michael Patrizi with Baird in third. The fastest driver in the Elite category was Stephen Grove.
The Carrera Cup has qualifying tomorrow at lunchtime followed by the opening 17-lap race between the two V8 Supercars qualifying races.
