Veteran racer Aaron McGill will equal a long-standing Fujitsu V8 Supercars Series record this weekend at the Sucrogen Townsville 400.
McGill will make his 39th Fujitsu V8 start, equaling Mark Howard’s start record.
At this stage, the New South Welshman plans on entering Bathurst where he will break Howard’s milestone mark.
McGill has also announced a new sponsor for his #75 Falcon BA for this weekend’s round, with Townsville company J&D Rigging joining the team.
“It is fantastic that we are able to welcome a local sponsor to our team for Townsville, which I am sure will give the team that extra incentive to get some solid results on the track,” McGill said.
“I want to thank J&D Rigging for their support, particularly Managing Director John Hassle. The relationship is already extremely positive for me personally and the team, and it is only motivating me to repay that support with a great showing in front of their local clients.”
McGill’s best round result in the Fujitsu V8 Series is eighth place at Wakefield Park in 2005, the same year in which he finished eighth in the championship.
