Scott McLaughlin appears set to log his first laps behind the wheel of a DJR Team Penske Ford Falcon during a private ride session at Queensland Raceway today.
The 23-year-old has spent the off-season becoming acquainted with the Queensland-based outfit following his much publicised move from Garry Rogers Motorsport.
While short of a fully fledged test, the day should provide the Kiwi with a brief taste of what to expect from the FG X Falcon as he transitions to the American/Australian alliance.
McLaughlin has piloted a Volvo S60 for the last three years after steering a Holden VF Commodore during his first full season in the category in 2013.
The last time he piloted a Ford was when he drove a FG Falcon to the 2012 Dunlop Series title for Stone Brothers Racing/Matt Stone Racing.
Speedcafe.com understands the team is working to organise a full blown test for the Kiwi before the official test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 21.
The team will unveil its Shell-backed Falcons officially at a launch scheduled at Melbourne Docklands on February 7.
