Chaz Mostert will be awarded the Armor All Pole Position for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 after stewards disqualified the Scott McLaughlin/Alex Premat entry from the Top 10 Shootout.

Officials confirmed ahead of the Sandown 500 that the #17 Shell V-Power Racing Mustang has been wiped from the results of Qualifying and the Shootout at Mount Panorama as part of a penalty for a breach of engine regulations at the event.

The team has also copped a $30,000 fine while McLaughlin and Premat were relegated from fifth to the rear of the grid for today’s 500km enduro in Melbourne.

With McLaughlin removed from the Bathurst qualifying results, his practice record 2:03.3783s effort has also been deleted.

Supercars has subsequently confirmed to Speedcafe.com that Mostert will be credited with the Armor All Pole Position, meaning the Tickford Racing driver’s career pole tally moves to 20.

“It feels pretty good. I can’t wait to hit up Armor All for some dollars!” quipped Mostert on Fox Sports’ Supercars Trackside.

“Overall, it is what it is, Bathurst has come and gone now, and we’re finished here at Sandown so I don’t know, (just) keep pushing on. We’ve got Newcastle coming up.

“It’s always pretty special to so-called start on pole for the Bathurst 1000 but it is what it is.”

The pole is in fact Mostert’s first at the Bathurst 1000.
