Dunlop Series points leader Chaz Mostert will start the opening race of Round 3 in Townsville from pole position.
The Ford Performance Racing Falcon driver proved the class of the field during the 30 minute session, which was run in cool and overcast conditions.
Mostert’s fastest time of 1:13.81s came with eight minutes remaining – beating Scott McLaughlin’s early benchmark by 0.11s.
Mostert returned to the track for a final run, but was forced to abandon his efforts in order to save a locked left-front tyre at Turn 2.
Holden drivers David Russell and Nick Percat will share the second row, while Luke Youlden, Scott Pye, George Miedecke, Tim Blanchard, Ash Walsh and Andrew Jones round out the top 10.
The session ran green for its duration, with a wild spin on the way into Turn 2 for Nandi Kiss the only major incident.
