Martin, who currently rides for the factory Aprilia squad, will be joined at Yamaha by Trackhouse incumbent Ai Ogura. The pair have been signed on two-year deals.
It will be the first time Yamaha has had a full-time Japanese rider in the modern era of MotoGP.
The announcement comes after Yamaha confirmed Fabio Quartararo’s long-awaited exit. His destination is thought to be a factory ride with Honda.
Teammate Joan Mir will also depart the team and is not expected to stay in MotoGP beyond this year.
Yamaha Racing boss Paolo Pavesio hailed Martin and Ogura major signings for the team.
Martin won the 2024 world championship with Ducati satellite Pramac but has been bogged down by injuries since.
Ogura, meanwhile, has been a standout for Trackhouse and won the most recent race at Assen.
“We are excited to welcome Jorge and Ai to the Yamaha Factory MotoGP Team as we enter a new era in 2027,” said Yamaha Racing boss Paolo Pavesio.
“Securing riders of this calibre underlines our ambition and confidence in the project.
“Jorge has already proven himself as one of the benchmark riders in MotoGP, with the speed, determination, and mindset to fight for wins and world championships.
“We expect him to play a key role in driving our performance forward from day one.
“Ai’s progression over the past one-and-a-half seasons has been outstanding.
“His talent, work ethic, and potential make us confident he can grow into one of the top riders in the championship.
“At the same time, we are especially proud to welcome a Japanese rider into the Yamaha Factory Team.”
MotoGP continues at Germany’s Sachsenring on July 10-12.
