BK8 Gresini Racing announced the signing of Joan Mir (black shirt) and Daniel Holgado (white shirt) for 2027.

Following Yamaha’s announcement of a completely revamped rider line-up, Gresini Racing has followed suit, confirming two new riders for 2027.

Gresini’s new pair includes the first rookie announcement for the new season.

Last season’s Moto2 rookie of the year, Daniel Holgado, will make the step up to the pinnacle of motorcycle racing.

A three-time Moto2 grand prix winner to date, Holgado notched up five podiums en route to sixth in the 2025 standings.

With a single win to his name this season in Moto2, Holgado is currently sixth in points entering the halfway point.

“I am very happy to join the MotoGP project of the BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP Team,” Holgado said.

“It is literally the dream of my life to race in the premier class, and doing it with a team like this makes it even better.

“It is the result of a lot of effort and hard work over the years. I know it will be a huge challenge, but I am ready to grow both as a rider and as a person.

“A huge thank you to Nadia [Padovani, team owner] and the team, my family, and everyone who has believed and continues to believe in me.

“I know it won’t be an easy journey, but I am fully ready for whatever comes next.”

Gresini has also announced the signing of 2020 MotoGP world champion Joan Mir.

Mir enters the team after a four year stint with Honda HRC Castrol, making the switch to Italian machinery, with the team confirming a new multi-year deal to continue with Ducati.

The addition forms a strong partnership for the team, with the champion rider in Mir aged 28 alongside the 21-year-old rookie.

Gresini also confirmed Mir will race a factory-spec Desmosedici next season, the same bike that Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta will ride with the leading Ducati squad.

The destination of Gresini’s outgoing pair is to be confirmed, however Fermin Aldeguer is reportedly linked to Valentino Rossi’s VR46 squad and Alex Marquez to KTM.

MotoGP continues with the Grand Prix of Germany on July 10-12.
