Reigning Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series Champion team Matthew White Motorsport tested three competitive drivers as it closes in on securing its driver line-up for the 2010 season.
Jack Perkins, David Russell and Marcus Marshall, who all hold strong levels of V8 Supercars experience, tested two of MW Motorsport’s four Falcons at Winton Motor Raceway yesterday.
Team owner White told Speedcafe.com.au that he wants to run as many as three cars in the Fujitsu V8 Series this year, but at this stage, he has no deals in place.
“As far as getting deals done, we’re in the middle of it all now, trying to get things to work,” White said.
“We’ve got some sponsorship meetings, and the drivers have got their own meetings going on as well.
“The best thing that we’ve got going for us is that we’ve been 100 percent planning to run since day dot. We’ve been preparing these cars since December. The cars are ready. It’s just a little bit of signage and organising, but apart from that, we’re ready. It’s been frustrating, though.
“I’m hoping to have all three cars entered, but it could be none! I’m certainly working on it.”
Last year, MW Motorsport helped Jonathon Webb to victory in the development class. The team also entered Damien Assaillit and Brad Lowe – but neither will return to the team this year.
The Fujitsu V8 Series kicks off at next weekend’s Clipsal 500 meeting in Adelaide on March 11-14.
