Scott Pye’s final drive for DJR Team Penske will take place in the colours of WM Waste Management.
The team has revealed Pye’s livery for the December 2-4 Coates Hire Sydney 500, which will see WM Waste step into the primary role having been a minor DJR sponsor since 2013.
In addition to farewelling Pye, Sydney also marks the last outing for Penske’s rolling sponsorship model before its full-season Shell V-Power deals kicks in for 2017.
“WM Waste have supported the race team over many years and we are thrilled to repay that commitment with a full car livery at the Sydney 500,” said DJR Team Penske managing director Ryan Story.
“As we head into 2017, our partnership will strengthen as the WM Waste brand will be seen on both Shell V-Power Fords.
“Local companies with great heritage are a passion for the sport are critical to our category and Mark and his team at WM Waste demonstrate and leverage that very well.”
Employing 80 people, the Victorian based WM Waste deals in waste removal, rubbish bin hire and solid waste management.
Pye enters Sydney 15th in points following his second podium of the season at Pukekohe earlier this month.
He ended the championship 19th in each of the last two years while driving for the Queensland-based squad, missing the opening round in 2015 before stepping in for Marcos Ambrose.
Pye will move to Walkinshaw Racing in 2017 after Penske elected to replace him with current Volvo GRM star Scott McLaughlin.
