Josef Newgarden has taken pole as Team Penske went one-two-three in qualifying for the DXC Technology 600 in Texas.
Newgarden was the 18th on-track of the 22-car field and lapped Texas Motor Speedway in a two-lap time of 46.9964s in the #1 Chevrolet.
That effort edged Simon Pagenaud’s (#22 Chevrolet) 47.0607s which had been the benchmark at the time.
Power (#12 Chevrolet), as series leader, was the last driver to take to the circuit but came up just short of his team-mates and will share Row 2 with the lead Honda of Robert Wickens (#6 Schmidt Peterson Motorsports).
Scott Dixon (#9 Chip Ganassi Honda) was seventh, title contender Alexander Rossi (#27 Andretti Autosport Honda) eighth, and last start winner Ryan Hunter-Reay (#28 Andretti Autosport Honda) 10th.
The 248-lap race is set for a start on Sunday at 1045 AEST.
