Stati had success racing karts in the Asian-based Global ROK Cup Series in the Cadets and Junior categories. That allowed him to race with the factory Energy Corse Team in multiple World Championship Superfinals as well as other top level events across Italy.
“I’m really excited to continue working with AGI Sport in the return of the Australian Formula 4 Championship this year, I’m looking forward to racing with the team in Australia,” said Stati who will join recently announced teammate Jimmy Piszcyk in the team.
He began his car racing with the Australian-based International F4 team at the Sepang International Circuit last November in the last two rounds of the SE Asian F4 Championship. He finished fifth in the rookie standings which included an outright win in the penultimate race of the championship.
Stati continued with AGI Sport in their first foray into the F4 United Arab Emirates Championship against the best junior single seater teams and drivers from Europe and the Middle East.
“We’re super excited to continue working with Nicolas and support his transition into the Formula 4 category. Nico turned 15 last November so we were able to sneak in a few F4 races in Asia with him before Christmas,” said AGI team principal Adam Gotch.
“We then took him to the Middle East where he competed in the toughest of all F4 series, the UAE F4 Championship. Nicolas worked really well alongside our second year F4 driver Jack Beeton and will be aiming to put all of that hard work over the off season into his first car racing campaign in Australia this year.”
The re-launch of Formula 4 in Australia will allow young drivers to contest in an FIA-certified open wheel category in Australia, with four rounds in the country and a season finale at Sepang. They can earn FIA super license points and have an easier pathway to competition to international competition with the same Tatuus F4 T421 GEN2.
There will be a pre-season test on April 30-May 1 at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia before Round 1 at the same venue on May 4-5.
