Organisers of the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown have confirmed that there has been no impact on Hidden Valley Raceway after an earthquake shook Darwin this morning.
According to Geoscience Australia, the magnitude 6.2 (mb) earthquake had its epicentre in the Banda Sea between Indonesia’s islands, to the north of the Northern Territory, at a depth of 116km.
It was felt in Darwin at around 0545 local time (0615 AEST), causing shaking of buildings and furniture.
The impact in the NT capital appears to have been fairly innocuous, with Speedcafe.com advised that there has been no damage at Hidden Valley Raceway, where the seventh event of the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship is taking place this weekend.
“Event organisers are aware that an earthquake was felt in Darwin in the early hours of this morning, however Hidden Valley has not been impacted and the 2019 BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown will go ahead as planned,” a spokesman from Northern Territory Major Events Company told Speedcafe.com.
Supercars Practice 3 is scheduled for 1050 local time/1120 AEST.
