Penrite Racing is the latest team to showcase its revised look for this weekend’s Pirtek Perth SuperNight.
The Holden squad has made use of reflective partner logos to ensure they stand out out under lights, while title sponsor Penrite will be displayed in gold chrome on the flanks of the ZB Commodores for David Reynolds and Anton De Pasquale.
Erebus Motorsport has also fitted gold LED lights to the underside of the cars while blue lighting strips have been added to the cabin to aid the drivers’ peripheral vision.
“It was important to create an eye-catching look for the second running of the night event,” said team CEO Barry Ryan.
“We learnt some key lessons last year and wanted to execute something special to highlight our amazing group of partners.”
Teams have been encouraged to make alterations to their liveries to boost their appearance in night racing conditions.
Kelly Racing has adopted a similar approach to Erebus with having elected to use LED lights, while Ford teams will run special glow in the dark Mustang badges.
Meanwhile, Race 12 at the Pirtek Perth SuperNight will mark Reynolds’ 300th race start in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
“300 has snuck up pretty quick, it’s a really nice milestone,” said Reynolds.
“I’ve spent a third of those with this team and we probably should have won the Sunday race last year when we came second.
“This weekend will be different with a new surface and new racing conditions, but we have a good set-up for high grip tracks so hopefully we can roll out strong and in a better position than we have been here previously.”
The squad heads to Perth having racked up podium finishes in the previous two meetings at Symmons Plains and Phillip Island, courtesy of Reynolds and De Pasquale respectively.
Action begins at Barbagallo Wanneroo Raceway with opening practice on Thursday at 1840 local time/2040 AEST.
