Perkins fastest again in Dunlop Series practice

Jack Perkins continues to set the pace in practice for Round 6 of the Dunlop V8 Supercars Series at Bathurst.

Perkins’ tenth lap, a 2:09.6779s, was the Practice 2 benchmark, despite being marginally slower than his best effort in the morning’s opening session, which remains the fastest lap of any category for the weekend thus far after the V8 Supercars Championship’s relatively slow early running.

As such, Dale Wood is currently the only other man to have recorded a time in the 2:09s, his sole sub-2:10 time coming on his ninth lap with five minutes remaining. He was also fastest to the first sector the next time around, bit did not go on with the lap.

Steve Owen stripped some six tenths from his best Practice 1 lap to be third for the day, ensuring that the top three would remain the same, but might have gone faster if he did not strike traffic while attempting a late flyer.

Andrew Jones, Ash Walsh, and Taz Douglas, all improved on their morning times to fill third through sixth on combined times ahead of Chris Pither, who regressed significantly in the afternoon.

Geoff Emery, Paul Morris, and Casey Stoner, rounded out the top ten for the day, ahead of tomorrow morning’s 30 minute qualifying session at 8:55 AEDT.
