Jack Perkins proved the class of the field in practice for Round 3 of the 2013 Dunlop Series in Townsville.
Returning to an ex-Tekno Autosports Eggleston Motorsport Holden that has received significant upgrades since Barbagallo, Perkins set a fastest time of 1:14.82s in the second of two 40 minute practice sessions.
The time proved just 0.09s quicker than the best managed by Matt Stone Racing’s series leader Ashley Walsh.
The MW Motorsport Fords of Dale Wood and Practice 1 pace-setter Steve Owen were third and fourth respectively in the second session.
Daniel Gaunt and Casey Stoner completed the top six after the former MotoGP World Champion improved from 10th fastest in the opening hit-out.
“It felt good, we just need a little bit more time,” said Stoner of his day.
“It’s hard getting all the little things together but we’re getting there and it’s a lot more enjoyable now.
“Hopefully we can stay in the top-10 for qualifying and spend more time up that end because we haven’t been there too much. It felt good, we just need a little bit more time.”
