Heavy rain has forced IndyCar to reschedule the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono.
Light rain began falling three hours ahead of the scheduled start before it increased to heavy downpours closer to the advertised start time.
With no chance of getting on track as another weather system pushed through the area, IndyCar made a call to attempt to run the 200-lap race tomorrow at 2.09am (AEST).
The rescheduling follows the abandonment of the Texas race in early June when rain hit with only 71 laps of the 248 in the books. That race is to be re-run this weekend.
Mikhail Aleshin (Schmidt-Peterson Motorsports) has the pole for the Pocono race, becoming the first Russian driver to qualifying on top in an IndyCar race.
“It is a disappointment, definitely,” said Aleshin of the wash out.
“It’s something we can’t do anything with. We need to hope that tomorrow has no rain and it will be fine.”
“I don’t care about (the track possibly changing). We are going to prepare like we always do and just stay focused for one more day.”
