Wet weather limited Casey Stoner to just six laps on his return to a MotoGP bike at Motegi on Tuesday.
Stoner is at the Japanese circuit for a two-day test to undertake development of both Honda’s existing RC213V and its 2014 prototype bike.
The test marks the first time that Stoner has ridden a MotoGP bike since last year’s season-ending Grand Prix at Valencia.
“It was good to get back on the bike, if only for a few laps,” he said.
“We only managed to get one run in before the rain arrived, which was a little disappointing.
“It was really nice to get that first run; it’s been nine months since I’ve been on a bike and it’s going to take me some time to get used to everything again.
“The bike and the track felt good and I hope that we can get some better testing in tomorrow with some dry track time and run some more laps.”
Stoner is competing full-time in V8 Supercars’ Dunlop Series this year, scoring a top five finish last time out at Queensland Raceway.
