A field of 72 cars will line up for the 24 Hours of Spa as part of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.

It marks a record field, half of which is entered in the Pro class, and 28 cars nominated to compete in the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

The 24 Hours of Spa is the third round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, which began with the Bathurst 12 Hour in February and has since taken in the California 8 Hours at Laguna Seca.

That event was won by HubAuto Corsa, with Tim Slade, Nick Foster, and Miguel Molina sharing the driving duties on that occasion.

For Spa, six Australians are set to tackle the flagship GT3 event, including Bathurst 12 Hour winner Matt Campbell in a ROWE Racing operated Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Foster, Shae Davies, Josh Burdon, Martin Berry, and Yasser Shahin are also listed on the provisional driver entry list, while New Zealanders Earl Bamber and Nick Cassidy are also slated to compete.

Eleven different marques are also represented, including 10 Mercedes-AMG GT3s split across the Pro, Silver Cup, and Pro-Am classes.

Only Audi boasts more cars, with 11 entries, while Porsche features nine and Ferrari 10 entries apiece.

Absent from the grid is a McLaren, the 720S GT3 yet to make its Blancpain series debut despite taking part in the official pre-season test.

A two-day pre-event test began on Tuesday with the SMP Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 posting the fastest time, a 2:19.137s in the day’s second session.

That narrowly eclipsed the 2:19.257s set by the KUS Team 75 Bernhard Porsche 911 GT3 R in the morning session.

In total, six different marques lapped under the 2:20s marker, with testing set to continue at the Belgian circuit on Wednesday.

The 24 Hours of Spa runs across the July 25-28 weekend, though the Blancpain GT World Challenge field will be in action at Zandvoort for a Sprint event on July 12-14.
