Formula 1 has confirmed a revised 2017 calendar which avoids a date clash with the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours.
The new 20 race schedule ratified at the World Motor Sport Council meeting in Vienna sees the Azerbaijan event held a week later than its original slot on the draft calendar released earlier this year.
Organisers were heavily criticised for clashing with the famous sportscar endurance race this year.
Azerbaijan’s new June 23-25 date has forced the following races in Austria and Great Britain to be pushed back a week from their original berths on the calendar.
The new calendar also confirms the removal of the German Grand Prix from the schedule after reports last week that Hockenheim circuit officials were unable to strike a deal with F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone.
The Singapore Grand Prix has moved to a September 15-17 date with the Malaysian Grand Prix now set to run back-to-back with the Japanese Grand Prix.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian Grand Prix’s future has been confirmed with the event due to be held from November 10-12.
The Australian Grand Prix will continue to kick-off the new season from March 23-26.
