Aussie drag racer Richie Crampton has taken his fourth NHRA victory in the rain-affected Kansas Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka in Kansas.
The Lucas Oil Top Fuel ace completed a series of 3.7s passes to record his second victory of the calendar year.
“It’s pretty neat to have won four events,” Crampton said.
“Top of the moon right now, but I’ve still got a little bit to learn as a new driver. I still consider myself a rookie, but I drive a championship-calibre race car for a championship-calibre team.
“We’ve got all the tools to win races like this and all the staff to make it happen. I’m happy with my progression, but I still need to knuckle down and try to do a better job in the race car.”
He now holds third in the Top Fuel Mello Yello standings with Antron Brown and Tony Schumacher ahead of him.
Crampton has become the most successful Australian in NHRA history with his run of 3.710s the fifth fastest of all-time.
