Lotus driver Romain Grosjean has completed his duties at Formula One’s Barcelona pre-season test by topping the time sheets for a second consecutive day.
The Frenchman completed a late 1:22.61s lap to end the day 0.51s quicker than Jean-Eric Vergne’s Toro Rosso. Grosjean’s lap was completed on soft tyres late in the day.
By contrast, Vergne’s fastest time had been set in the morning, after which point the Italian car suffered an engine problem that saw a small fire and a red flag intervention.
Kimi Raikkonen and Daniel Ricciardo will now take over from Grosjean and Vergne respectively for the final two days of running.
Sebastian Vettel ended the second day third fastest, ahead of Fernando Alonso and Heikki Kovalainen, who completed his fastest lap on the Super Soft tyres.
