The Shannons Supercar Showdown reality television program will return this year in a heavily revised format.
After two years under the auspices of Kelly Racing in which the winner co-drove a V8 Supercar in the Bathurst 1000, the show has been reborn with Ford Performance Racing.
The new format will see eight young drivers compete for a test driver role with the Ford team.
Current FPR drivers Mark Winterbottom and Will Davison will captain the two teams of four, with contestants taking to the wheel of karts, Formula Fords and “V8 racecars” at Melbourne’s Calder Park.
FPR says that the series will provide a unique behind-the-scenes look at the inner-workings of its operations.
“We are really looking forward to sharing our team and our partners with race fans across the nation,” said team principal Tim Edwards.
Airing from September 3 on 7mate, the show will be headed up by experienced motor racing television presenter Briony Ingerson.
The first two seasons of the show were won by Cameron Waters, who now competes in the Dunlop Series, and Jesse Dixon, who is a full-time driver in the V8 Ute Racing Series.
