Jordan Love recorded a dominant victory in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge opener at Phillip Island.
The Australian Formula 4 graduate overcame a lap 1 Safety Car to take the chequered flag by 6.8s from fellow professional class runner Brenton Grove.
“I stuffed up the start but managed to keep the lead and then pulled a gap,” said Love.
“Then we had the Safety Car and he went with me off the restart for a lap or so before we could get away – I am happy with that.”
Grove faced a challenge from Elite Class competitor Anthony Gilbertson, who claimed the final spot on the podium.
Shahin, who leads the class and won the opening round at Sandown, was fourth ahead of Nick Karnaros.
Karnaros had to see off the early challenge from former Olympian John Steffensen, who ultimately had an off-track excursion and finished 13th.
Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia will return for a further two races tomorrow, with Race 2 scheduled for 0920 (AEST).

CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship
CAMS Foundation Rising star Ryan Suhle and Tyler Everingham scored breakthrough victories in the opening two Australian Formula 4 Championship races at Phillip Island this weekend.
Suhle produced a faultless lights-to-flag drive to lead home fellow Rising Star Cameron Shields and talented Kiwi Formula 4 rookie Liam Lawson.
Western Australian Nick Rowe came home in fourth in front of Zane Morse and Simon Fallon.
Everingham produced arguably the drive of his career to date to claim his maiden F4 win.
The Zagame Motorsport driver started 10th on the grid after being handed a 30-second penalty in Race 1 for contact with Josh Denton.
Despite incurring damage to his front wing, Everingham managed to power his way through the field to victory ahead of Morse and Lawson.
Everingham was aided by the introduction of the Safety Car on Lap 4 following an incident between Suhle and Shields.
The 12-car field will contest a 17-lap race on Sunday at 1150 AEST.

Radical Australia Cup
Peter Paddon once again proved the class of the field in the Radical Australia Cup as he extended his unbeaten run in the category.
Paddon, who started from third on the grid, assumed the lead at the first corner after the front row duo of Michael Shaw and Oliver Smith ran off the road.
Once in front he powered his way to a third win of the season with a comfortable 50-second margin ahead of the recovering Shaw.
Kim Burke claimed the final spot on the podium ahead of Peter Johnson and Smith.
Radical Australia Cup returns tomorrow for the final race of the weekend, with Race 2 commencing at 0950 (AEST).
