The next round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series – The Island 300 – will feature a slightly revised Saturday qualifying session.
Instead of the two knock-out sessions, followed by the top 10 shoot-out, there will only be one knock-out session. This means that after the first 20 minute session, 19 cars will be eliminated, leaving only a top 10 shoot-out to finalise the grid.
Usually, the first nine cars are dropped off at the end of Leg 1, followed by another 10 before the top 10 shoot-out is run.
It further reduces the on-track time of the V8 Supercars in what is set to the shortest-ever meeting the category has ever been involved in.
The two-day meeting (a first for V8s) will start on Saturday with a 20 minute practice session, followed by the shortened qualifying and then Race 21 (100km) of the championship. One compulsory fuel pit stop is required.
Sunday features a 20 minute qualifying session for Race 22 (200km) which requires two compulsory fuel stops.

Both races are worth a maximum of 150 championship points.
Just two support categories will be at the track – Saloon Cars and Targa Invitational.
There will be no event program for the race meeting. Instead, Australian Auto Action magazine will act as the weekend trackside event guide.
