Popular sprintcar racer, Danny Reidy has been given the call-up to drive a Stadium Super Truck at tomorrow night’s double header at Valvoline Raceway in Sydney.

Reidy will replace Brett Thomas in the TFH Hire truck, who ruled himself out earlier today following an awkward landing during testing on the Parramatta track yesterday.

It means that the Alice Springs-raised, Gold Coast-based Reidy will drive in both the Super Trucks and Ultimate Sprintcar competition.

“It is going to be busy racing between the two, but it will be pretty awesome,” said Reidy.

“I saw the trucks last weekend on the Gold Coast and they are out of control. It will be a new environment for me, especially hitting that huge jump in the middle of the track, but I love a good challenge and this will be it.”

The field will feature six Americans led by Series founder Robby Gordon and five Australians including Paul Morris and Matt Brabham.

Reidy, who has a number of major A-Main Sprintcar victories to his credit, will be a popular choice among regular race-goers at Valvoline Raceway.

It won’t be foreign territory for him, though, having started his racing career in off-road racing before taking to Sprintcars and travelling many seasons on the gruelling World Series Sprintcars trail, in the process developing a legion of fans.

The action begins on Saturday night at Valvoline Raceway at 5:30pm with the first Stadium Super Trucks event scheduled for 6:15pm.

Tickets will be available at the gate.
