Matthew Brabham is hopeful of garnering more support for his bold Indy 500 bid by his appearance in the Stadium Super Trucks at the Valvoline Raceway in Sydney tomorrow night.

Carrying on from his eventful appearance in the high leaping trucks at the Castrol Gold Coast 600 last weekend, Brabham is one of a hand-picked group of Australians who will race in the myPlates Stadium Super Trucks, presented by the Daily Telegraph over a special course at the speedway venue.

It remains a radical way to keep his career moving but the 21-year-old says he is edging closer to making an appearance at the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 in May.

“Every second person has been asking what I am doing next year which has been great, but it will be even better if we are in a position to confirm something in the next few weeks,” Brabham said.

“We have a solid group of people trying to get the budget together for the Indy 500 which would be amazing considering it will be the 100th running on the event.

“I guess you couldn’t get two vehicles more different than a Stadium Super Truck and an IndyCar, but in their own environment they are probably the two most exciting race cars in the world.

“For me, the Indianapolis 500 is everything.

“Obviously my family history at this famous race track is well documented with my “pop” (Sir Jack Brabham) racing the first rear-engined car into ninth place in the 500 in 1961 and dad (Geoff) had 10 starts there.”

The Super Trucks will run on the same bill as round four of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship with action starting from 6pm local time.

The myPlates Stadium Super Trucks presented by the Daily Telegraph begin tomorrow night at Valvoline Raceway, Wentworth Street, Granville from 5:30pm.
