Dunlop Super2 Series driver Adam Marjoram has been hit with a hefty $10k fine and exclusion from Friday’s opening practice at the Watpac Townsville 400.
The Image Racing driver was judged to have failed to observe more than 10 red flags towards the end of the first 40 minute session at the Reid Park Street Circuit.
Officials flew the red flags to retrieve Dean Fiore’s MW Motorsport Nissan Altima that had stopped on track at the Turn 7-8-9 complex with a suspension issue.
Stewards investigated Marjoram following the incident before handing out a $10k fine, with $5k suspended until the end of next year.
His results have also been scrubbed from Practice 1 that saw the Perth driver post the 17th fastest time.
“Following a review of Car #15, Adam Marjoram’s Judicial Camera Footage, Car #15 was found to have failed to observe multiple (more than ten) Red Flags displayed around the Race Track (Breach of Schedule B3 Article 3.2 – Red Flag),” read a report from the stewards.
“In the process, Car #15 failed to slow and overtook Car #50 while Red Flags were displayed and failed to proceed immediately to Pit Lane, continuing for an additional lap of the Race Track.
“A report from the Timekeepers confirmed the above. The Stewards imposed a Fine of $10,000 with $5,000 suspended until 31/12/19 and disqualification from Practice 1 of Round 4 of the 2018 Dunlop Super2 Series.”
The Super2 field will return today for Armor All qualifying at 1125 AEST.
