Steven Johnson converted his Touring Car Masters pole position into victory with a comfortable drive in the category’s opening race of the weekend at Queensland Raceway.

Johnson fended off a brief challenge from John Bowe on the opening lap before edging his way into a healthy lead, which he held until the chequered flag.

Andrew Miedecke and Bowe provided the bulk of the entertainment in the race as they squabbled over second position for the entire encounter.

After snaring the position on the second lap Miedecke held his nerve to secure second with Bowe forced to settle for third the Gary O’Brien built Holden Torana.

Glenn Seton managed to bring his Ford Mustang Coupe home in fourth ahead of the AMC Javelin of Jim Richards in fifth position and Keith Kassulke in sixth.

Eddie Albenica, Greg Crick, Tony Karanfilovski and Cameron Tilley rounded out the top 10.

Jordan Lloyd continued his early charge in the CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship as he completed a lights-to-flag victory in the first of three races this weekend.

Polesitter Lloyd was shadowed by Thomas Randle for the entire race as he went on to record his third win from four races in the new junior single seater category.

Despite applying race long pressure on Lloyd, Randle was forced to settle for second with Team BRM’s Harry Hayek fighting his way through to third.

Will Brown had held third in the early stages of the race before he began to slide down the order, with his race ending in retirement on lap eight.

Dream Motorsport’s Luis Leeds finished fourth ahead of Jimmy Vernon and Nicholas Rowe.

Rusty French and Adam Garwood shared the victories in the two Sports GT races.

French, driving a Porsche 997 Cup Car, held off Garwood to win the opening encounter which saw polesitter Tony Warren retire on the opening lap.

Greg Garwood came through to claim the final podium place with Clint Pease in fourth.

Garwood and French were involved in another thrilling dice in the second race which saw the former take the chequered flag by 0.4s with Greg garbed in third.
