Touring Car Masters
Glenn Seton has set the fastest time in practice for the final round of Touring Car Masters at the Coates Hire Sydney 500.
The two-time Australian Touring Car Champion topped an interrupted second practice session after Eddie Abelnica found the wall at Turn 1 and brought out the red flags.
With the session curtailed, Seton and his 1964 Ford Mustang held top spot, having just knocked off John Bowe, who held the early ascendancy in his 1974 Holden Torana.
Steven Johnson made no advance after clocking the benchmark time during Practice 1, his 1971 Ford Falcon XY ended the day third fastest on combined times.
Abelnica, nearest rival to series leader Bowe in the title chase, was seventh.
Saturday’s program sees the field qualify at 1110 AEDT before an opening nine-lap race from 1355.
Toyota 86 Racing Series
Cameron Hill topped both practice sessions in the Toyota 86 Racing Series.
The 2015 Australian Formula Ford Series winner set the fastest time of the day in the morning’s opening session, before the heat of the day set in at Sydney Olympic Park.
Series leader Will Brown was second fastest on combined times and the only other man to drop into the 1:50s bracket.
David Sieders, currently second in the points, was fourth behind Tim Brook.
Toyota 86 Racing Series qualifying will be held tomorrow at 1045 AEDT, with Race 1 at 1325.
V8 Utes Racing Series
Nathan Pretty has given his series title hopes the best possible chance with the fastest lap in V8 Utes practice.
Pretty shot to the top at the halfway mark of the second 20-minute practice session and stayed there as a number of his rivals overstepped the limits.
Points leader David Sieders, fastest in Practice 1, made minor front-on contact with the tyre bundle at the bus stop chicane during Practice 2.
Jeremy Gray fared worse at the same complex just minutes later, losing the rear of his Holden on the kerbs before slapping the outside wall.
Ryal Harris, Ryan Hansford and Craig Dontas all spent time in run-off areas during the afternoon session.
Reigning series winner Harris ended the day second overall ahead of Sieders, Hansford and Mason Barbera.
Qualifying and Race 1 will be run tomorrow at 1015 and 1250 respectively.
