Suzuki will return to grand prix motorcycle racing with riders Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales next season.
The Japanese marque has been plotting a return to motorcycle racing’s top tier ever since its departure at the end of 2011.
The Davide Brivio led outfit has also confirmed that its new GSX-RR machine will make a wildcard appearance at this season’s final round at Valencia, piloted by test rider Randy De Puniet.
Espargaro is expected to lead the line up having turned heads in the premier class this season for Forward Yamaha.
The announcement comes just days after the 25-year-old Spaniard secured his maiden MotoGP podium with a second place finish at last weekend’s Grand Prix of Aragon.
He will be joined by a premier class debutant in Vinales.
The 19-year-old is the reigning Moto3 world champion and a Moto2 race winner this season.
The pair are believed to have fought off the advances of several riders, including MotoGP veteran De Puniet, who had been linked to the vacant rides.
