Bathurst history-makers TeamVodafone has paid a flying visit to Sydney to celebrate its dominating one-two in yesterday’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Victors Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife, along with team-mates Jamie Whincup and Steve Owen went on a jet boat experience at Circular Quay before photos and media opportunities outside of the Sydney Opera House.
It was an amazing race for the Queensland-based TeamVodafone outfit, crossing the line first and second – only the third time in The Great Race’s history that a team has secured such a result.
Lowndes was the hero of the day, completing 79-consecutive laps to secure the win ahead of team-mate Whincup.
“This result really is a dream come true and an incredible effort for all at TeamVodafone who work so hard and are so passionate at what they do,” said Lowndes.
The result sees Lowndes jump to third in the title. Jim Beam Racing’s James Courtney continues to hold a narrowed championship lead over Whincup.
The next round of the V8 Supercars Championship Series heads to the Armor All Gold Coast 600.
