Triple Eight has teased plans for an announcement this weekend which is believed to be an expansion of its racing portfolio.
Team boss Roland Dane had hinted at plans to expand its racing commitments during the broadcast of last weekend’s Superloop Adelaide 500 and refused to discuss further when questioned by Speedcafe.com.
The squad has posted a picture of the Mercedes AMG GT3 it campaigned at last month’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour on Facebook with the words “Something big is on the horizon… stay tuned this weekend.”
Speedcafe.com understands that an Asian GT campaign could be in the works involving recently retired Supercars full-timer Craig Lowndes.
Lowndes has previously suggested that his racing future lies in GT racing alongside his Pirtek Enduro Cup Supercars co-driver commitments with Jamie Whincup at Triple Eight.
He has been actively searching for a drive to contest the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours.
