Max Verstappen has been handed three penalty points on his licence as a result of two separate driving infringements during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The Toro Rosso driver was demoted from 12th to 16th position after receiving a 20 second time penalty for ignoring blue flags, which followed a five second penalty for gaining an advantage by exceeding track limits.
After reviewing the incidents, stewards chose to issue two penalty points for the blue flag infringement with a single point awarded for the incident that saw Verstappen pass Jenson Button while off the race track.
Verstappen has accrued eight penalty points this year and is just four away from receiving a one race ban.
Any driver that collects 12 penalty points during a 12 month period will earn a one race ban.
