Porsche team Magnus Racing has produced an emotive video urging fans to ‘rediscover sportscar’ racing ahead of this weekend’s Daytona 24 Hours.
The Daytona classic will mark the first event for the United SportsCar Championship, which has been borne out of a merger between the Grand-Am and American Le Mans Series competitions.
Sixty-seven cars have entered for the race, which will test the championship’s attempts at finding parity between the Daytona Prototypes and LMP2 runners.
The impressive field is headlined by the two entries of reigning race winners Ganassi Racing, which has switched from BMW to Ford engines for the new season and boasts IndyCar stars Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan amongst its driver line-up.
A total of 27 prototypes are set to take the start of the race, including the attention-grabbing DeltaWing.
