Jonathon Webb will compete at Albert Park’s non-championship V8 support races in Paul Morris Motorsport’s ageing Commodore VE.
After suffering huge damage to his regular car in an accident with Greg Murphy in Sunday morning’s qualifying at the Clipsal 500, Paul Morris has graciously lent Tekno Autosports his Commodore, codenamed ‘Kulwicki’ – the car that has been Morris’s Development Series car over the past three years.
The car is likely to be raced in exactly the same colours and livery as it was used by Morris in the final round of the Development Series in Sydney last year.
Webb passed on his thanks to Morris for the short-notice lease of the car.
“Firstly, I want to say big thanks from us to Paul Morris for letting us lend the car,” Webb told Speedcafe.com.
“From our team’s point of view, it’s disappointing that we won’t be in there in our car, but there was no chance of that. The car is being repaired.”

Webb said that he applied to V8 Supercars to miss the non-championship round, but would risk copping a hefty six-figure fine.
“There were no other options. We spoke to V8 Supercars about getting some level of dispensation, but they said “be there or be fined.” Paul has allowed us to use his car, so we’ll be there,” he said.
Webb says that his aim with be to simply finish the non-points races, without damage, in the car that he has never driven.
“The hardest thing is that the car didn’t get delivered to our shop until last night. I’m heading in there in the next hour to see if I can fit in it,” Webb said.
“We’re not expecting a lot. We don’t really know what we’re working with. We’ll go over it, make sure nothing is going to fall off it and turn up on Thursday and see what we’ve got.”
