Former Bathurst 1000 winner Win Percy is recovering at his home in Spain after suffering a heart attack.
Friends have rallied to support the Englishman, who has had coronary stents inserted following the recent health scare.
Percy is best known in Australia for combining with Allan Grice to supply Tom Walkinshaw with the first major triumph for the then fledgling Holden Racing Team in the 1990 Bathurst 1000.
The now 70-year-old made 10 Bathurst 1000 starts and spent a small period living in Australia while charged with running the HRT in the early 1990s.
His distinguished driving career in Europe came mainly with Walkinshaw and included three British Touring Car Championship titles.
He was also the first driver to win behind the wheel of the TWR's Jaguar XJ220 sportscar.
Percy had a fall while in the garden of his home in England in 2003, after which surgeons botched an operation, which left him paralysed from the waist down. He successfully sued the West Dorset hospital for damages.
