Mark Winterbottom will start the 2010 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 from pole position.
The Orrcon Steel Ford Performance Racing Ford Falcon set a 2m07.5377s, edging out the TeamVodafone duo of Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup.
Winterbottom’s lap was smooth, mistake free, and fast enough to start the country’s biggest motor race from the number one spot.
Winterbottom will be partnered by Luke Youlden in tomorrow’s 161 lap event.
Provisional pole-sitter Jason Bright (Trading Post Racing) dropped down to eighth place.
Fujitsu Racing’s Lee Holdsworth will start from the outside of the second row, having been the fastest car in the final practice session of the day.
The third row will be the two retro-liveried Toll Holden Racing Team Commodore VEs of Garth Tander/Cameon McConville and Will Davison/David Reynolds.
Rounding out the top 10 is James Courtney (Jim Beam Racing), Greg Murphy Castrol EDGE Racing) and Paul Dumbrell (The Bottle-O Racing).
Tomorrow’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 will start at 10am.
