Ryan Wood has doubled up as fastest qualifier and will start both Dunlop Super 2/3 races at the final round from pole position. The WAU Holden Commodore ZB driver was one of a number that had the top spot at some stage during the second qualifying session before Wood secured the top spot for Race 2 with his 1:19.2800 flyer.
The qualifying session for the second race at the final round was an all-in affair with both groups on track together at the VAILO Adelaide 500.
The session was red flagged two and a half minutes before its scheduled conclusion due to Callum Walker spinning at Turn 7. The prone Commodore left the ensuing Nash Morris nowhere to go but into the concrete wall.
Current points leader Zak Best (Anderson Motorsport Ford Mustang) was pipped for the top spot by 0.029s with Zach Bates (WAU ZB) another 0.07s away in third place. He was barely ahead of Eggleston Motorsport Holden teammates Kai Allen and Cameron Crick with Jay Hanson (Image Racing ZB) next in sixth place.
Aaron Love (Petronas Mustang) was the initial pacesetter before he finished the session seventh ahead of Aaron Seton (ZB) and Holden drivers Cooper Murray and Matt Chahda. Aaron Cameron (Mustang) had a wall brush and was able to continue for 11th, in front of Zane Morse (Mustang) and the Holdens driven by Jordyn Sinni and Jordan Boys.
Again, it was Jobe Stewart (Image Racing Holden Commodore VF) who led the charge in Super 3 with 15th overall. Rylan Gray (Tickford Racing Ford Falcon FG/X) was second fastest in 18th, ahead of prolific Super 3 fast man Cameron McLeod, Mason Kelly and Jett Johnson in their Nissan Altimas.
Race 1 for Dunlop Super 2/3 is schedule for 1:25 pm on Saturday over 40min and the second race over a similar timeframe on Sunday at 1:20 pm.
